Position Overview:

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt is seeking a full-time, Legal Assistant in one of the following offices: Portland or Salem in OR, Vancouver in Washington. This role provides high-quality legal and administrative support to lawyers and paralegals in the business and transactions, corporate, estate planning, and tax practices.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of related legal assistant experience,‎ is detail-oriented, highly organized and proactive, and has the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Schwabe has a hybrid work policy allowing employees to work from home Monday and Friday while working in the office Tuesday through Thursday. The first 30 days will be in office Monday through Friday to ensure a smooth onboarding and integration into the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys with estate planning, corporate, and tax matters.
  • Schedule appointments, coordinate meetings, and maintain attorney calendars.
  • Prepare corporate and business records, business transaction signature packets, estate planning portfolios, and tax-related documentation, and coordinate delivery to clients.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of corporate entities, governance structures, mergers & acquisitions, estates, trusts, probate, and tax-related processes and terminology.
  • Support tax matters by organizing documentation, assisting with tax filings, extensions, and elections, and coordinating correspondence with taxing authorities as needed.
  • Proofread, format, convert, and edit a wide range of legal documents, including trusts, wills, corporate governance documents, entity formation documents, and correspondence.
  • Create draft and shell documents such as client correspondence, engagement letters, resolutions, consents, and tax-related letters.

Requirements:

  • An associate’s degree or certificate in legal assistant or paralegal studies is preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Professional, client-focused demeanor.
