Position Overview:
Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt is seeking a full-time, Litigation Paralegal in our Portland or Vancouver office. This role provides advanced paralegal support to attorneys in litigation and employment matters, including advice and counseling. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal while collaborating with attorneys, clients, and legal teams to ensure successful case outcomes.
Schwabe has a hybrid work policy allowing employees to work from home Monday and Friday while working in the office Tuesday through Thursday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage litigation deadlines, coordinate case schedules, and ensure compliance with court rules and filing requirements.
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, motions, and other substantive legal documents.
- Manage incoming and outgoing records requests, tracking deadlines, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Oversee discovery, including document review and production, vendor coordination, and strategy recommendations.
- Provide support for depositions, including preparation and compilation of relevant materials.
- Lead trial preparation, including exhibits, witness coordination, and courtroom support.
- Familiarity with procedures of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Oregon and Washington state equivalents, including revision of position statements to incorporate citations to supporting exhibits and assisting with response to charges of discrimination and requests for information.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of trial and litigation-related experience
- Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field strongly preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
- Strong understanding of state, local, and federal courts rules and procedures
- Experience with discovery management tools and e-discovery platforms
- Demonstrated success in trial preparation and courtroom support
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and client service skills
- Proficiency with legal technology and document management systems (e.g., iManage, RelativityOne, CaseMap+, OnCue)
